    • Sky Sports Leaders visit the FA’s National Football Centre


      The year 9 Sky Sports Leaders had an amazing day visiting St George’s Park, the FA’s National Football Centre, and even managed to bump into England Manager, Gareth Southgate!

       

       

    • Transforming the local environment with the planting of 1000 trees


      Fullhurst Community College worked together with governors, local primary schools, community groups and special guests to transform the local environment with a community tree planting event on Thursday 9 February.

    • Money makes the world go round…


      Students in years 7 - 10 are enjoying special Maths and IT lessons as part of ‘Fullhurst’s Finance Week’.

       

    • Two leading managing directors offer career advice to year 9


      Managing Directors from two leading Leicestershire companies spoke to year 9 students this morning about their journey to where they are now and what employers are looking for as part of Leicestershire Cares 'Speedy Speakers' sessions.

    • "By the time the bills are paid it doesn't leave much… I want to thank you all”


      Back in December,  students continued the Fullhurst Christmas tradition of creating food hampers for local residents who may be struggling for a variety of reasons including vulnerable families and the elderly.  Heartwarming messages of thanks,  from recipients of the hampers, were forwarded to us from the b-inspired team.

    • Play table tennis at Fullhurst on Wednesdays and Fridays


      Table tennis is extremely popular at Fullhurst Community College.  In partnership with Aim Strong Sport, we are able to offer a range of opportunities and support for students to take part. We are pleased to announce that we are now offering two new table tennis sessions at Fullhurst on Friday evenings 6-7pm and 7-9pm.

    • LCFC's Mendy officially opens our 3G pitch


      On Tuesday 17 January, Nampalys Mendy and the LCFC Community Trust team officially opened our new 3G pitch.  Students were lucky enough to have a kick around with the Leicester City star as well as take part in a question and answer session.

    • Supporting homeless young people at Christmas


      Hats, gloves, warm jumpers, toiletries and lots of chocolate treats were amongst the hundreds of donations received for Fullpower's charity Christmas appeal.  

    • Un voyage magnifique à Paris


      Year 8 students enjoyed a magnificent cultural visit to Paris, just before the Christmas break. 

    • The stage was glistening with Fullhurst's Got Talent


      Our first Fullhurst's Got Talent was a huge success! The hall was packed last night and the stage was glistening with talent. Congratulations to all performers!

    • Leicester Mercury Student Awards GCSE Achievement Award Winner


      We are so pleased to announce that Fullhurst leaver, Namrata won the Leicester Mercury Student Awards GCSE Achievement Award which was presented by Ian Davis of Leicester Riders .  Congratulations Namrata!

       

    • Generating electricity at the wind turbine challenge


      On Tuesday 6 December, year 7 students took part in a EDT First Edition workshop.  As well as learning about different sources and uses of energy, the ‘design, build and test’ wind turbine challenge helped to develop personal skills such as team work, communication, time management, creativity and problem solving.

    • Leicester Mercury Student Awards 2016


      We are extremely proud that three students who left Fullhurst this summer have been announced as finalists in the Leicester Mercury Student Awards 2016 and are looking forward to attending the glizzy award ceremony at the King Power Stadium tomorrow evening.

    • Our first health and wellbeing fair is a huge success


      We held our very first health and wellbeing fair in college on Wednesday 30 November. The aim of the event was to give every single year 10 and 11 student the opportunity to meet and chat with a wide range of different health and wellbeing support agencies; some of whom the students may not have been aware even existed.

       

    • College closes for Christmas at 12.20pm on Thur 15 Dec


      We will close for Christmas on Thursday 15 December 2016 at 12.20pm and  look forward to seeing all of our students back at college on Wednesday 4 January at 8.40am.

    • Under pressure in the kitchen with amazing results


      The pressure was on this lunchtime as groups of Year 11 GCSE Hospitality students prepared, cooked and served up a delicious three course meal.  The students worked superbly in their teams, demonstrating real culinary skill and great timing to ensure that their guest received hot, tasty food.

    • We are in the top 7% of secondary schools in England!


      Fullhurst Community College is not only Leicester City’s highest performing secondary school but is now also ranked in the top 7% in England.

    • Inspiring afternoon with author Jacqueline Wilson


      Year 7 students visited De Montfort Hall on Saturday 19 November to take part in 'An afternoon with Jacqueline Wilson'. The much loved children’s author delivered engaging and inspiring tales about her career and love of books.

    • An 'out of this world' National Enterprise Challenge


      All year 8 students took part in the Ryman National Enterprise Challenge on Tuesday 15 November 2016.   Working in teams of six, the students worked on a real life business challenge which this year was set by the UK’s number one theme park, The Alton Towers Resort. 

    • Fullpower Radio is a bully free zone


      The team at Fullhurst Community College's school and community radio station, Fullpower.fm, will be demonstrating their 'power for good' during Anti-Bullying Week 2016 by broadcasting special shows throughout the week. 

    • We are 'top of the league'!


      The Department for Education has released new provisional school by school GSCE performance tables which show Fullhurst as the highest performing school in the city and one of the highest performing in the East Midlands.

    • Exploring post 16 options at Liaise Evening


      A record turnout at our Liaise Evening, with 98 year 11 and 29 year 10 students and their parents attending the event to discuss post 16 options with over 20 different organisations including colleges, the armed forces, higher education and apprenticeship providers.

    • Valuable interview practice for our year 11 students


      On Wednesday 5 October, year 11 students took part in our mock interview event. The event was organised in partnership with Leicestershire Cares. We are immensely grateful to volunteers from local businesses for giving up their time to come in and help our students prepare for future interviews for college, with apprenticeship providers or in the world of work.

    • Art students visit exhibition of leading contemporary artists


      Year 10 GCSE Art students visit 'Plant Culture', an exhibition of work by some of Britain’s best contemporary artists, at the Attenborough Arts Centre.

    • 'Go For Reading' gets off to a great start


      Volunteers from a wide range of businesses across the city, visit Fullhurst Community College every Tuesday morning to take part in the ‘Go For Reading ‘ programme with year 7 students.

    • Our students are fantastic - it must be in their genes!


      Year 9 students attended the Dynamic DNA event at the University of Leicester Department of Genetics on Thursday 8 September. They spent the day with real geneticists learning about the amazing uses of DNA.

    • Record GCSE exam results for the third consecutive year


      Fullhurst Community College students are celebrating record GCSE exam results with over 58% achieving A* to C grades in English and Maths.

    • Fullpower sparkles at the Shine School Media Awards


      Fullpower were invited to attend the Shine School Media Awards at Stationers' Hall in London on Tuesday 21 June 2016 to broadcast live from the event. 

    • Thanking Sgt Horn for his help getting Fullpower on air


      Three students from Fullhurst Community College visited Leicestershire Police Force Headquarters to present Sergeant Aaron Horn with an award in recognition of his contribution in getting the college’s community radio station on air. 

    • Experiencing England's crime and punishment history


      On the 7 July, year 8 and 9 History students visited The Galleries of Justice in Nottingham to experience Georgian and Victorian crime and punishment as well as courtroom workshops and debates.

    • Teams of students create solutions to real problems


      Year 7 science students had the opportunity to participate in an exciting one-day energy conference  on Friday 1 July.  

       
    • Our Sky Sports leaders shine at primary sports festivals


       KS3 students excel as enthusiastic coaches at local primary school sports festivals.

    • Warm congratulations to all 2016 award winners


      We were delighted that ex-Leicester City Football player, Steve Walsh, was able to attend and present the awards.
