European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), is an Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) certification qualification that is globally recognised. Those who are awarded it have shown that they have a grasp of the foundational skills needed to use a range of software packages which includes Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Students at Fullhurst are given the opportunity to take this course in year 10. The department has found that the course develops the students ICT skills ready for the world of work as well as providing a good range of skills relevant for a range of subjects taught within the college.
Key Stage 4
Each student takes four tests scheduled over the academic year.
The tests are:
- Summative / combination test.
Testing itself is done using software which simulates the Windows/Microsoft Office environment. The candidate's mouse movements and keystrokes are monitored and the result of the test is reported immediately after the test is completed. If the student successfully passes the test then they are awarded the certification by the awarding body, BCS.
