Student Leadership & Student Panel
At Fullhurst Community College, we believe our students are not just learners, but leaders and changemakers. Our students are eager to take part in initiatives that matter to them — making a difference both in school and community.
The Relaunch of Student Leaders
From the 2025/26 academic year, we are proud to relaunch our student leadership programme under the name Student Leaders. This initiative offers students the chance to:
- Build confidence and skills
- Learn from and about each other
- Develop valuable, transferable skills for life beyond school
You’ll be able to spot our Student Leaders by their special badges. These students will be actively encouraging participation, raising awareness, and inspiring engagement in a wide range of activities that bring our school community together. Each year group has 12 Student Leaders.
What Student Leaders Do
Student Leaders represent both of our school sites and work on projects that make a positive impact, such as:
- Wellbeing – promoting mental health and peer support
- Charity events – leading charity events
- Equality & culture – promoting equality
- Community outreach – organising our many community events
Co-operation, understanding, and diversity are at the heart of their work.
Collaboration & The Student Panel
Student Leaders meet at least once every half term to decide on focus areas and create action plans. They also work across year groups to share ideas and strengthen impact.
In addition, Student Leaders form the Student Panel — a group that meets with members of the School Leadership Team to discuss the topics that matter most to students, ensuring their voices help shape the future of our school.
How to Get Involved
We want as many students as possible to benefit from the scheme — even if they are not an official Student Leader. To get involved, simply speak to any Student Leader wearing a badge and join one of the many projects running throughout the year.
Listening to Our Students
As part of our ongoing Quality Assurance process, we regularly survey students across all year groups. This helps us evaluate our provision, celebrate successes, and identify areas for improvement. Surveys are now part of the whole-school calendar, ensuring a consistent, student-led approach to making Fullhurst the best it can be.
Year 11 Head Prefects and Assistant Head Prefects
At Fullhurst Community College, our Year 11 Prefects are role models for the whole school, leading by example and showing what it means to live our four core values every day. Selected for their commitment, maturity, and positive influence, Prefects inspire all students and strengthen our school community. We have 10 Head Prefects and 15 Assistant Head Prefects.
Our Core Values in Action
- Kindness – Supporting others, offering help and encouragement, and creating a caring, inclusive environment where everyone feels valued.
- Unity – Bringing students together across all year groups, fostering friendships, collaboration, and a strong sense of belonging.
- Respect – Treating everyone with fairness and dignity, setting the standard for behaviour, and helping maintain a positive atmosphere.
- Determination – Showing resilience in the face of challenges, leading by example, and motivating others to strive for their best.
What Prefects Do
Year 11 Prefects carry out a range of important responsibilities, such as:
- Leading by example in behaviour and attitude
- Supporting younger students through peer mentoring, including a rota to assist in the Study Hub and on the playground during lunchtimes
- Organising events and leading initiatives such as Children in Need, transition days, and sports day
- Acting as a voice for the student body by joining the Student Panel to meet with members of our leadership team
- Helping staff during key school events, including parents’ evenings, the Summer Fair, and the Festive Fair
Working Together for Our School
Prefects are a visible and approachable presence across the school, always ready to lend a hand and encourage others. By demonstrating kindness, unity, respect, and determination in everything they do, they help make Fullhurst a safe, supportive, and inspiring place to learn.
