Year 7&8 Enterprise Day

Our Year 7 and 8 students recently took part in an inspiring Enterprise Day built around this year’s theme, “The Food Challenge.” The aim of the day was to encourage students to think creatively and collaboratively about real-world issues such as food poverty and food waste, while developing essential enterprise and teamwork skills.

Session 1 - Understanding Food Poverty and the Food Supply Chain

The day began with an exploration of the global and local issues surrounding food poverty and the challenges within the food supply chain. Students gained a deeper understanding of how food is produced, distributed, and accessed, and the inequalities that exist within the system.

Session 2 - Developing Ideas and Team Skills

Students then worked in teams to brainstorm innovative solutions to tackle food-related issues. They learned the importance of communication, collaboration, and creative thinking as they began to develop their own enterprise ideas.

Session 3 - Building and Promoting Your Brand

In this session, students transformed their ideas into tangible business concepts. They created brand names, logos, and promotional strategies to represent their projects and appeal to potential audiences.

Session 4 - Creating Presentations

Teams then focused on preparing professional and engaging presentations to showcase their ideas. They learned how to communicate their message clearly and persuasively, combining visuals and storytelling to make an impact.

Session 5 - Delivering Presentations and Choosing a Winner

Each group confidently presented their ideas to a panel of judges, demonstrating creativity, teamwork, and business insight. The judges were impressed by the students’ innovative thinking and enthusiasm. A winning team was chosen based on originality, practicality, and presentation skills.

Session 6 - Completing Evaluation Forms

To conclude the day, students reflected on their learning and experiences by completing evaluation forms. They shared what they had enjoyed most, the challenges they faced, and the valuable skills they developed throughout the event.

Enterprise Day was a huge success, showcasing our students’ creativity, empathy and entrepreneurial spirit. We are incredibly proud of their efforts to design thoughtful solutions to some of today’s most pressing food challenges.
