Attendance Focus Week

This week at Fullhurst we started the term with Attendance Focus Week, highlighting the importance of showing up and staying engaged in learning. Every day at school counts - not just for academic progress, but also for building friendships, routines, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging.
We understand that attending school isn’t always straightforward. Some students face real challenges, including anxiety, mental health concerns, family responsibilities, transport issues, learning difficulties, or past negative school experiences. During Attendance Week, our focus has been on understanding before judgment, encouraging positive attendance habits, and working closely with students and families to help overcome barriers. Attendance isn’t about perfection – it’s about progress, support, and making sure every student feels they belong.
Tutor Time: Focusing on Wellbeing
As part of our commitment to student wellbeing, Tutor Time explored topics that support both physical and mental health:
-
Diet and Development: Students learnt how balanced nutrition impacts growth, concentration, energy, and emotional wellbeing.
-
Exercise for Mental Health: We discussed the benefits of physical activity for mood, stress reduction, and confidence. Students were encouraged to find activities they enjoy and can maintain.
-
Managing Stress and Low Mood: Practical strategies were shared for coping with stress, recognising when to seek support, and the importance of self-care.
-
Parental Relationships: Conversations focused on respect, communication, boundaries, and understanding family dynamics, helping students reflect on how positive relationships at home support wellbeing.

We have a huge commitment to supporting our students— academically, socially, and emotionally. By understanding challenges, promoting healthy habits, and fostering strong relationships, we aim to create an environment where every student feels safe, supported, and ready to thrive.
