Our Pledge

Our Fullhurst Pledge is our commitment to KS3 students to offer a wide range of additional learning and social activities designed to engage and challenge students. We encourage all students to take full advantage of all the opportunities presented to them, to broaden horizons, experience something new, take them out of their comfort zone and improve their self-confidence.

Our Pledge is divided into five categories and is accessible to all students: The Arts, Careers, Community, Identity and Experiences.

In Year 7, students will experience a range of different activities which will allow them to grow in confidence, express individuality and showcase their creativity. Initially, they will:

  • See a theatrical performance
  • Participate in a ‘Speed Networking’ event with providers LEBC
  • Plant something for the future
  • Take part in a musical workshop ‘Bucket Drumming’
  • Collaborate on an art piece which represents identity

In Year 8, students will explore the importance of charity work, the impact of technology and become inspired by what their future holds. Students will:

  • Collaborate on a craft project
  • Witness a speech on identity
  • Support a local charity
  • Be a part of STEM
  • Participate in a University-led session

Finally, in Year 9, students will:

  • Be consumed in an immersive Dome
  • Challenge themselves through enterprise
  • Try a new sport
  • Embrace a musical performance
  • Create Seasonal cards for those less fortunate

Experiences:

In Year 7, students will visit the beach town of Hunstanton, watch the waves at sea and visit the Sea Life Centre to explore what careers and opportunities lie in coastal places. Meanwhile, taking in their surroundings and the nature that lives there.

In Year 8, students will get to explore the great outdoors with a visit to Derbyshire’s Peak District. While there is a planned walk to take in the beautiful scenery, we also schedule ample time for just sitting and relaxing, so students truly enjoy the countryside views. Through these sorts of pledge activities, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of students involved with Duke of Edinburgh Award, which is offered to all young people who show an interest from Year 9.

Year 9 will visit our capital city (London) where they will be able to see the sights and culture on offer, and visit major tourist attractions such as Tate Modern and Buckingham Palace.

These experience trips will broaden students’ minds to explore life beyond our city, to raise their aspirations and allow them to see different ways of living outside of Leicester.

On top of this, we encourage students to sign up to our extra- curricular offer, get involved with drama productions (The Addams Family 2026) and attend events outside of school hours. Through assemblies, form time and teacher engagement, there has been a noticeable increase in the popularity of The Arts amongst students in recent years.

Our aim is to prepare students with everything they need to start a life they are passionate about, from careers, to qualifications and extra-curricular activities. A huge part of the Fullhurst experience is to engage with all the exciting opportunities and be equipped for your next steps.
