Computing
Curriculum Intent
KS3
In ICT / Computing lessons we aim to provide students with an understanding of introductory concepts of Computing and Digital Technologies. We also aim to develop fundamental ICT skills in using digital technologies in a safe and responsible way, both in school and in the wider world.
Students are also reminded and encouraged to use and transfer these skills in different software packages from the context of ICT / Computing lessons to other curriculum areas, as well as realise these are skills that can be used at home and in the workplace.
Year 7
In year 7 students are shown the fundamental concepts relating to:
1) File and folder management
2) Use of e-mail

7) Basic Programming Ideas
Whilst teaching theory concepts we aim to develop skills at the same time, for example we use DTP software to deliver elements of Computing Architecture. Have a look at the video below for an overview of the Year 7 Computer Science Curriculum.
