It’s good to be back – Principals' Blog October 2020
We have seen a hugely positive start to the academic year, even in light of the national and international issues surrounding COVID-19. As a school, we welcomed back all of our students in early September, including our new cohort of Year 7 students who have made a brilliant start to their secondary school journey. We have made health a priority in these first few weeks; ensuring staff and students are safe in school. We have been thrilled to see how resilient and adaptable our students have been in light of the recent measures and we will continue to strive to maintain the high standards we set for ourselves here at Fullhurst.
In September, we held our first (and hopefully last!) Virtual Open Evening. The event took place online with over a thousand people accessing the site, touring the school virtually and asking questions of our teachers remotely. It was fantastic to see the popularity of the event; demonstrating how Fullhurst remains a popular choice of secondary school for people in the community.
The start of the year saw our launch of the Fullhurst App and we were so pleased to see so many parents download it. Currently, we have almost 900 parents signed up and using it. Our hope is that we will soon have 100% of our parents using the app as the primary communication tool for the school. If you are yet to download it, please head to the app store on your device and search ‘Fullhurst.’
At the start of October, Year 11 students had a talk from North Warwickshire & South Leicestershire College about their options in Post 16. This forms part of their ongoing preparation for their Post 16 studies. Currently, students are being fully supported through their Post 16 applications and writing their personal statements. The deadline for these applications is Friday 4th December.
After half term, we have our first set of assessments for Key Stage 3 students and teachers have been busy supporting students in their preparation for these. Please also look out for communication regarding our Year 11 Parents’ Evening - which will have a slight twist this year!
We look forward to welcoming all students back on Monday 26th October.
